Keyperch and Home Assistant

This page identifies the Keyperch Android app when it signs in to your Home Assistant. If Home Assistant asked whether to let Keyperch in, this is the app it meant.

Keyperch, made by Up & Adam, LLC. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Open Home Foundation.

What Keyperch Does With Access

Keyperch shows live tiles for the lights, switches and scenes on your deck, and runs the actions you set up for its tiles and macros. Scripts, covers and locks run only after a long press. Tiles for locks, covers and anything named like a door, gate or garage wait until the phone is unlocked.

Keyperch never runs shell commands, add-on controls or actions that change the server itself, such as a restart. Home Assistant gives Keyperch the same access as the person who signs in, and Keyperch holds itself to these limits.

Where the Key Is Kept

After you sign in, Keyperch keeps its key for your server, a refresh token, encrypted on your phone with a key from the Android Keystore. The key never goes into your deck, an export or a backup, and it is never sent to this website or to us. The sign-in happens on your Home Assistant's own page, and your server does not need to contact this website to accept it.

Remove Keyperch's Access

  1. In Keyperch, go to Settings, then Home Assistant, then Sign Out. That deletes the key on the phone and asks your server to cancel it.
  2. Or, in Home Assistant, open your profile, choose Security, and delete Keyperch's entry under Refresh tokens.
